As we have lived in NM, we often ask the locals what there is to do around here. One of my coworkers, Michaele (pronounced Michael) wrote a "prescription" for Scott and I to get away for a weekend. So, this last weekend I decided to take her up on it. She lives in a little old ranching (over 150 yrs old) community with several adobe buildings from the era. The name of the city is Monticello, its about 20 minutes from Elephant Butte. She guided us up the canyon close by. We took the jeep (best purchase EVER!) and slowly crawled up the canyon.
Here are a few pictures from our adventures!
Above: Coming through "the box" which is a small slot canyon.
It's a JEEP thing!
Michaele and I (left) and Scott and I (below) celebrating our success. It truly was beautiful, and we crossed the river probably 75 times as we weaved back and forth down the dirt road. There was dirt and mud flying everywhere. We loved it!!!!
Even the dogs loved had a good time! Both Lily and Ivy had fun rolling in the mud and running through the water we were one hot mess of mud, water and laughs driving back! So, here's to many new adventures ahead in New Mexico. Just a side note...Scott was FINALLY awarded loan repayment (which is why we moved down here). We are now committed to 2 more years of New Mexico lovin'. We truly have been blessed. Next post: You know you live in a small community when....
I'm expecting a blog update now- it's only fair...
ReplyDeleteI want to know how you know you live in a small community. :)
I'm still enjoying your "the box" post, but I'm also waiting for an update...
