Snow Cartin'

Utah Winters have always been my favorite thing!  I really miss the dry snow.  The snow in Utah is really the greatest snow on earth.  The day was amazing when we when snowmobiling, it reminded me of how much I miss Utah.

We went snowmobiling up at Scott's families cabin.  It was my first time snowmobiling.  I only got stuck once.  Luckily when I got stuck Chuck was with us and was able to pull us out.

Salem, MA

I think the thing I love most about living away from Utah is being able to visit so many different places.  Most of the places we have been to are spots in history that I learned about while in school, but being able to see it, makes it all that much more real.  Salem has it's own creepy history.  From June through September of 1692, nineteen men and women, all having been convicted of witchcraft, were carted to Gallows Hill, a barren slope near Salem Village, for hanging. Another man of over eighty years was pressed to death under heavy stones for refusing to submit to a trial on witchcraft charges. Hundreds of others faced accusations of witchcraft; dozens languished in jail for months without trials until the hysteria that swept through Puritan Massachusetts subsided.  We decided to read the Crucible written by Arthur Miller to help us understand more of the history.

Yes, that is Scott.  I know the picture is kinda creepy, but I think it is funny none the less.

Salem Witch Museum, where they do a Diorama of the witch trials.  They also help you understand the religion of the Wickens (present day witches)

The city of Salem is so cute!  I don't know how to explain it better than it is totally how I imagine a little beach side city!  I loved it!

Salem was once one of the most important ports in the nation. The historic buildings, wharves tell the stories of the sailors of the Revolutionary War, and merchants who brought the riches of the Far East to America.

House of Seven Gables from Nathaniel Hawthorne's book.  Apparently there was a family member that lived in the home, and he visited often.  He was originally born in the home across from the garden.  I think the thing  I liked the most was the gardens.  They were so beautiful.

Living Vicariously through others!

So, I realize it has been a while since I last blogged.  First off, nothing REALLY exciting happens to Scott or I.  We go to work, come home, eat dinner, go on a walk and then go to bed.  I mean...how exciting is that?  Not THAT exciting if I do say so myself.  So, we live vicariously through others.

We were finally able to go home to Utah at the beginning of March.  We hadn't been home for over a year prior to our return.  Luckily we were going home for some exciting events!  On March 4th we celebrated Heidi and Mark's wedding. It was so nice to finally meet Heidi.  We had heard so much about her...and had never met.  She is so cute!  I loved her center pieces. I have attached a picture of her centerpiece, and a picture of the happy couple!

Don't they look so great?
Aren't the centerpieces amazing???? LOVE it!

Some of the crazy/exciting things that also happened when we were home.  Scott's nephew (I guess he is my nephew too) got burned on his face, shoulder and arm.  Poor little guy!  His mom (Chelsey) and dad (Kevin) have to scrub the burns 2X daily.  It was so painful to hear about.  Kevin and Chelsey also blessed their new infant Jeter.  They blessed him on March 7th.  Jeter is such a darling baby.

                       Little Boston!
Boston and Jeter.  Aren't they so cute?

We also had ANOTHER wedding.  Leslee and Jason were married on March 13th.  It was fun getting to know another sister-in-law.  Their wedding video was amazing and it really showed Leslee's sense of humor.  They sang to each other and prepared for a new life together.  It snowed on their wedding day, which was kind of sad, but I bet it made for some great pictures.

Leslee's sister took their engagement photos.  I think their wedding announcement was so cute!

I have to say that my FAVORITE thing about being home was getting to know everyone better!  I didn't realize how funny some of my sister-in-laws are, or what great father's some of Scott's brother's have become.  We were able to visit all our grandparents and of course my family.  We miss being around all of them.  I had no idea how much I missed being around the craziness of both our families!  It is never boring as there is ALWAYS something going on.
