Scott and I decided we needed protection while we live in the "wild west" of New Mexico. We were actually just told it might be helpful to have a gun (bb) around should rattlesnakes slither into our yard. I would like to introduce you to "Ol' Bessie."
We now officially consider ourselves rednecks!
Target Practice...yup that's a peanut butter jar and several Diet Coke Cans.
Scott even made his own bulls eye.
We decided that we wanted to attempt to grow a garden this season, so in anticipation we decided to grow our own seeds that we will later transfer to our garden area. It really has been kind of fun to see the plants sprout.
Pumpkin Plants
Those are sunflower seeds growing. We also planted corn, squash, green beans zucchini, onions, carrots, cantaloupe and watermelon. We want to try this thing called the "three sisters" where the beans grown up the corn stalks and the squash plants cover the ground to decrease weeds. It looks something like this...
I've heard it is really cool, and Scott is super excited to try it. Scott also mentioned that this is how the Native American Indians did their gardening. I don't really know, we just thought it might be fun to try!
We also are officially ready for summer because the hammock is up in the backyard. Yea, that's right! It has been kind of neat to watch the leaves on the tree fill out because I swear it only took 3 days!
I've always wanted to have the energy to garden. Tell us (show us too?) how the three sisters works out!
ReplyDeleteRattlesnakes? Have you seen any yet? Have the dogs seen any to chase and spring at?
