Birthday 33

Scott just turned 33! Yes, he REALLY is THAT old!!!! Scott isn't one for big birthday's. But unlike him, I REALLY like to be recognized one day a year. I had originally thought it would be funny to make a cake in the shape of a tooth and cover it in white fondant. But, realized that I am not that advanced so thought it might be better to make a simple cake like the one below....
I had a friend in the ward show me a few days before Scott's birthday how to roll and get fondant to attach to butter cream frosting (the crumb coat). But instead of looking like the picture above and after several foiled attempts of rolling out fondant and having it fold all funny, I was sorely disappointed to find my cake looked nothing like my friend's cakes or the picture above. I was disappointed to find out that "Amazing Wedding Cakes" (one of my favorite tv shows) makes covering cakes in fondant look way to easy!
Instead the cake I made ended up looking like something a 3 yr. old would like. Don't tell Scott how much cake I ended up wasting before I ended up taking the easy way out. Oh, and I am going to try to do fondant again....before all my cakes look like this...

I was totally embarrassed to have Scott see the cake I made for him...but like the good sport he is, he just laughed and said good try! :)
I did try to surprise Scott with a few good presents.
Granted the "Just Dance" is for me with the guise of being bought for Scott's Birthday. I am so glad to have married this wonderful man. I have had so much fun having him be a part of my life the last few years as we have been married and moved around the country. I look forward to many birthdays and years ahead!

  1. I thought your cake was super! Is it supper or super . . . well anyway, good for you because you tried and yes, Scott is pretty easy to please. We hope he had a special day, even though he had to work.
